ParkProfi is a parking aid that is integrated into a license plate holder. It is based on the ultrasonic principle. The system emanates ultrasonic waves from two sources. If these waves come across an obstacle, they reflect back to the sender, the ParkProfi.

On the basis of the time required, the electonic system calculates the distance from the obstacle and emits an acoustic signal to the driver via a piezo speaker. Starting at a distance of 1.20 m from the obstacle, there is a beep at an interval of 1.2 seconds. The closer ParkProfi comes to the obstacle, the shorter the interval of the signals. From 30 cm on there is a continuous tone.

It is very important that the sensors should cover the correct area and not point at the sky or the ground, so they must be adjusted appropriately. In respect to the many different ways license plates can be fitted to different makes of cars, ParkProfi was specially designed so as to be accommodated to any type of vehicle by a swivel casing that can be adjusted according to the conditions of the vehicle.
